The begging bowl

A small parable for a deeper thought:

Once a dervish asked the king to fill his begging bowl...to prove that he is really a king...and said to him if u can't even fill the begging bowl of a poor beggar , what kind of a king are you ? And what sovereignty are you talking about ?

Gold coins were poured in, but it was a meraculous begging bowl, a magic begging bowl. All that was poured in disappeared immediately, and the bowl remained as empty as ever. The Sufi showed a great truth.

Sufi was helping the king to see the futility of all his possessions. He tried to show king that the bowl is like the desiring mind of every man and u can go on filling it all ur life but it will disappear . The desiring bowl remains empty no matter what u do...
